This rattlesnake was warming itself right across the people trail (you can see the marker in the picture). This is the first rattlesnake I've seen. There are lots of black snakes in all sizes from about a no. 2 pencil up to maybe 6, possibly 7 feet. Those things are in constant motion. This is probably the first snake I've seen sitting still - it was a cool morning and there was sun on this section of the trail. Several other people stopped to gawk at it while I was taking its picture.
